April 2022: Latest news from La Vieille Cheminée
“KI NEWS DÉPI LOT KOTÉ MONTAGN SAMAREL?”
These last two years of Covid have of course spared no one working in Mauritian Tourism, La Vieille Cheminée included.
We therefore take this opportunity to warmly thank our loyal Mauritian and Residents guests. Thank you for your support and many visits to the farm, which have brought a lot of motivation and courage to our team!
But we have certainly not been lazy during this slowed down period: there have been quite a few changes at La Vieille Cheminée!
1 - BRAND NEW STABLES
Our new stables are now fully operational.
Don’t worry, the horses haven’t gone very far. They have been relocated very close to the reception, on the other side of the paddock.
Their boxes communicate with each other, are well ventilated for the summer, secure for cyclones, practical for grooms.
In short, a luxurious building… Chamarel style!

2 - THE BOUTIK
Moving the stables allowed us to make other very practical changes!
The old stables of Chester and Cappuccino have become our “Boutik Lokal”.
We’ve kept the same system as before, but in a bigger space, with more choices, and no need to sneak behind Guillaume’s desk with his big straw hat to reach the products!
“Ayo Zot Oh! Jean-Pierre forgot the red wine and Maryse the sausages for dinner. Disaster!” Don’t worry, we’ve thought of all the essentials you might need during your stay, favoring of course local and Mauritian products.

3 - OFFICES FOR THE ENTIRE ADMIN TEAM
No, no, “Rogers’ House” didn’t move to Chamarel, it’s only us…
We have relocated our offices closer to the car park. We can now welcome you more easily.
These new offices also offer more comfort to our reception and admin team.

4 – OUR “PA POU ALÉ VINI” KITCHEN
(means SUPER nice in creole!)
The rest of our old stables have been recycled into a 5-star kitchen and a laundry area for Maya and her team.
The lodges are full and everyone wants to order dinner?
Yes we can!

5 - ENLARGED RECEPTION AREA
The old offices have been converted into a dressing area for horseback riding and into an small office/desk for our customers. Ideal for the digital nomad in you!
