Losing an iconic personality of the farm

Sad news from La Vieille Cheminée last week.

Mathilde, our oldest and older horse, died during the night of April 5th.

She was 32 and had been at La Vieille Cheminée for 24 years!

More than a horse, Mathilde was an iconic personality of La Vieille Cheminée and Chamarel. She arrived from South Africa on the estate in 1998 accompanied by Amarula and Del Piero, for those who remember. She naturally imposed herself as the alpha female of the herd. Sweet, but with a fun personality, she was for many years the great favorite and best friend of all the children, who fought to be able to ride her. She also participated in the “fancy fares” for several years in a row, to the delight of the children of the village.

Retired for many years now, she spent a long and happy life on the farm.

We are deeply grateful for all the happiness and joy she has brought us.
